The Cato Institute has an interactive map on their website detailing the paramilitary raids that law enforcement have engaged in that range from just excessive use of force to raids ending with disastrous results.

Silly stuff like a SWAT team in full tactical gear being called to a High School to break up a half of dozen students who where just loitering after school. But also more serious raids like killing innocent people, shooting them in the back almost a dozen times and throwing enough flash bang grenades to burn the house down.

Is marijuana, which is the reason for many of these raids that evil to warrant such an over the top response from law enforcement that many times ends in diaster for us citizens?

AP - BERWYN HEIGHTS, Md. - Mayor Cheye Calvo got home from work, saw a package addressed to his wife on the front porch and brought it inside, putting it on a table.

Suddenly, police with guns drawn kicked in the door and stormed in, shooting to death the couple’s two dogs and seizing the unopened package.
In it were 32 pounds of marijuana. But the drugs evidently didn’t belong to the couple.

Oppsy!

“We were harmed by the very people who took an oath to protect us.”

Got to keep up the statusquo.

…said police apparently killed them “for sport,” gunning down one of them as it was running away.

hhmmm, where is PETA when you need them?

Prince George’s County Police Chief Melvin High - …did not apologize for killing the dogs, saying the officers felt threatened.

Yeah dogs running away from me make me feel threatened too.

The paramilitary arm of the Prince George’s County Police executed a no-knock home invasion of the part-time Mayor for a package of marijuana which was delivered to the house by an under cover officer. While the package was addressed to the major, the package like several others around the area were to be dropped off at the addresses and then quickly picked up by individuals participating in the drug trade.

More details about the jack booted thuggery can be found in the Baltimore Sun article.

Berwyn Heights police Chief Patrick A. Murphy appeared with the mayor Thursday and said his agency was never informed of the investigation, despite an existing memorandum of understanding to work together on such operations.

He said not knowing about the raid could have led his officers to fire upon the sheriff’s SWAT team because its members were wearing street clothes, masks and carrying weapons as they approached the mayor’s house.

Well its caturday, what do you think?

I am not amused.

Indeed.
