While I have had houseofmike.com for several years today is the 1 year anniversary of houseofmike running WordPress. At some point I got bored with the previous CMSs I ran, geeklog, xoops and whatever else I played with. I got bored or couldn’t figure out how to do something with it got pissed and dumped it.

I have been very happy with WordPress and the available plugins for it.
Hopefully the site will make it to 2 years. :)

Version 2.0 of Wordpress has been released. A nice Christmas present. I did the upgrade tonight, it was rather painless. All the plugins I use still work, atleast they appear to.

One important note before we begin: Many of the changes in WordPress from 1.5 to 2.0 are under the hood. They are things that you’re not going to notice unless you are developer. There are some features that casual users will notice that are significant, but (in my opinion) most of the real change has happened where most people won’t see. [.continue.]

Surviving A Slashdotting With a Celeron 466

An interesting read, but not %100 truthful. The system was unavailable for the first two hours of the slashdotting while he tuned his server. I am not trying to take away from what he did with his Celeron 466, wordpress, bsd on his dsl line. I am just curious if his tuned server would have been able to handle the initial load.

The wordpress plugin that he used, WP-Cache looks handy in reducing server load. I am still relatively new to wordpress so I am not up on all the cool plugins. Easy to install, just like everything else in wordpress, and seems to work great. This should be helpful if I am ever slashdotted. But I don’t think my posts are that interesting. :)
