Illegal drugs and how they got that way – Opium, Morphine & Heroin

100 years ago these drugs were legal for the citizen to purchase and consume. Along comes the Harrison Narcotics Tax Act of 1914 which made criminals out of common citizens. As of 2006 50% of citizens in federal prison and 20% of citizens in state prison are incarcerated for drug charges.
How is that war on drugs going?

Map of Isolated Incidents

The Cato Institute has an interactive map on their website detailing the paramilitary raids that law enforcement have engaged in that range from just excessive use of force to raids ending with disastrous results.

Silly stuff like a SWAT team in full tactical gear being called to a High School to break up a half of dozen students who where just loitering after school. But also more serious raids like killing innocent people, shooting them in the back almost a dozen times and throwing enough flash bang grenades to burn the house down.

Is marijuana, which is the reason for many of these raids that evil to warrant such an over the top response from law enforcement that many times ends in diaster for us citizens?

Police Mistakenly Raid Mayor's Home, Kill His Dogs

Stephen J Boitano / AP

AP – BERWYN HEIGHTS, Md. – Mayor Cheye Calvo got home from work, saw a package addressed to his wife on the front porch and brought it inside, putting it on a table.

Suddenly, police with guns drawn kicked in the door and stormed in, shooting to death the couple’s two dogs and seizing the unopened package.
In it were 32 pounds of marijuana. But the drugs evidently didn’t belong to the couple.

Oppsy!

“We were harmed by the very people who took an oath to protect us.”

Got to keep up the statusquo.

…said police apparently killed them “for sport,” gunning down one of them as it was running away.

hhmmm, where is PETA when you need them?

Prince George’s County Police Chief Melvin High – …did not apologize for killing the dogs, saying the officers felt threatened.

Yeah dogs running away from me make me feel threatened too.

The paramilitary arm of the Prince George’s County Police executed a no-knock home invasion of the part-time Mayor for a package of marijuana which was delivered to the house by an under cover officer. While the package was addressed to the major, the package like several others around the area were to be dropped off at the addresses and then quickly picked up by individuals participating in the drug trade.

More details about the jack booted thuggery can be found in the Baltimore Sun article.

Berwyn Heights police Chief Patrick A. Murphy appeared with the mayor Thursday and said his agency was never informed of the investigation, despite an existing memorandum of understanding to work together on such operations.

He said not knowing about the raid could have led his officers to fire upon the sheriff’s SWAT team because its members were wearing street clothes, masks and carrying weapons as they approached the mayor’s house.

Well its caturday, what do you think?

Indeed.

Texas Man Who Didn't Kill May Be Executed

Jeff Wood Didn’t Kill Kris Keeran, but He Is Set to Be Executed for Keeran’s Death
By SCOTT MICHELS

Aug. 8, 2008 —

Texas is scheduled to put a man to death this month even though he never killed anyone, in what would apparently be the first execution of its kind in more than a decade.

Jeff Wood was sentenced to death in 1998 for his role in the murder of Kris Keeran, a gas station attendant who was killed during a 1996 robbery.

But Wood did not kill Keeran. Danny Reneau, Wood’s former roommate, was convicted of shooting Keeran between the eyes during the robbery Jan. 2, 1996. Reneau was executed in 2002.

Barring a commutation from the governor, Wood, 35, will be put to death Aug. 21.

Wood was the getaway driver while Reneau robbed the Kerrvill, Texas, gas station where Keeran worked. [...continue...]

I’m all for the state to use capital punishment in those extreme cases that warrant it. However John Wood never killed anyone. I don’t care if he did help destroy the surveillance tapes, at gun point or not. Dude didn’t take a life, dude shouldn’t have his taken from him.

Just in case, we'll take your gun

A new report to the Connecticut state legislature shows police have used the state’s unique gun seizure law to confiscate more than 1,700 firearms from citizens based on suspicion that the gun owners might harm themselves or others.

The state’s law permits police to seek a warrant for seizing a citizen’s guns based on suspicion of the gun owner’s intentions, before any act of violence or lawbreaking is actually committed [...continue...].

Some more info on this can be found here.

So what is this minority report?

The dismantling of the 2nd admendment and the disarming of citizens continue…

Drive while using a cellphone is illegal unless your a cop

Milissa Santos spotted the San Jose cop in the next lane chatting on his cell phone as she drove down Meridian Avenue a couple of weeks ago. The sight made her curious and then a little peeved.

The officer was holding the phone to his ear, gabbing away. Hey, she wondered, what about the hands-free law that went into effect July 1?

“It took me by surprise,” said the 42-year-old customer service manager at Cisco, one of dozens of irate drivers who called Roadshow to complain after seeing police using cell phones. “It was obvious that his call was not work-related, as he was having a jolly good time laughing.”

Like it or not, police are exempt from the new law and can legally use a hand-held phone.

Another one of those laws that us regular citizens have to follow, but law enforcement/government do not. They are above the law.
How many more criminals has this law created from those would be law abiding citizens in a free country?

The excuse that many cops wear an ear piece connected to their scanner is a bunch of crap. Maybe the ones running dispatch buy not the officer on the street. I have never seen a cop on the street with an ear piece in.

If Susie wants to do something about, start taking photos of the cops talking on their cellphones. Setup a website something like copsoncellphones.com and have people submit their own photos.
The more people that see the hypocrisy the better.

Tobacco banned Montgomery College

Montgomery College in Maryland has banned tobacco use on campus, even outside. This is a growing trend among higher-ed institutions.

The real reason why sheeple agree with this. ‘I don’t like the smell.’ or the even better fallacy of second hand smoke kills, especially outside. If car exhausts smelled like the cigarette smoke then I suspect we would be banning cars too. I suspect I breath in more harmful chemicals walking through the parking lot then when walking by the few smokers lighting up in the designated areas.

I don’t smoke and actually call cigarettes cancer sticks, since that is what they are. But what a person decides to breath is their own business. But it is just not cigarettes that are banned, all tobacco products are. This ban also includes chewing tobacco. A tobacco product that does not harm anyone except the user. So why ban chewing tobacco? Well, chewers make up a very small minority so it is easy for the anti-tobacco crowd to take away that freedom as well.

And yes, employees could ultimately be fired or students kicked out if they kept ignoring the rule.

The more freedoms that are taken away, the more us citizens are turn into rule/law breakers, sad.

A Real Choice

I have been told that if I vote for someone that doesn’t have a D or an R after their name on the ballot that I am just throwing my vote away. My response to them is the opposite but still quite the same. If you are voting for someone just because they have a D or an R after their name on the ballot, then you are equally throwing your vote away.

Check out the Libertarian party playform, check out the Libertarian candidate for President, Bob Barr.

Some say voting for a 3rd party candidate for any reason is dumb because they can’t win. Well, voting for someone just because they can win doesn’t hold too much logic either.

Transformers shirt gets jet ban

AIRPORT guards stopped a man boarding a plane — for wearing a Transformers T-shirt showing a cartoon gun.
Brad Jayakody, 30, was shocked when he was told to change his top if he wanted to catch his flight from Heathrow’s Terminal 5.
IT consultant Brad — on a British Airways trip with four colleagues to Dusseldorf, Germany — asked to see the security chief.
He thought the boss would “see sense” — but he backed up the decision and threatened him with ARREST. Aussie-born Brad said: “My mate set off the alarms and was searched.
“But then the guy told me to stop and said ‘you cannot get on the plane because there is a gun on your T-shirt’.” ..continue..

And the reasons why I don’t fly continue to pile up.

Seriously….
