While I have had houseofmike.com for several years today is the 1 year anniversary of houseofmike running WordPress. At some point I got bored with the previous CMSs I ran, geeklog, xoops and whatever else I played with. I got bored or couldn’t figure out how to do something with it got pissed and dumped it.

I have been very happy with WordPress and the available plugins for it.
Hopefully the site will make it to 2 years. :)

(June 15) — Zhang Shiqiang, known as the Nine-Fingered Devil, first tasted justice at 13. His father caught him stealing and cut off one of Zhang’s fingers.

Twenty-five years later, in 2004, Zhang met retribution once more, after his conviction for double murder and rape. He was one of the first people put to death in China’s new fleet of mobile execution chambers.

The country that executed more than four times as many convicts as the rest of the world combined last year is slowly phasing out public executions by firing squad in favor of lethal injections. Unlike the United States and Singapore, the only two other countries where death is administered by injection, China metes out capital punishment from specially equipped “death vans” that shuttle from town to town.[.continue.]

If the crime was a violent one like Zhangs it would be one thing.
But execution for tax invasion? Come on.

The US makes some Iraqis in a jail play naked twister and the US is the great evil. China rolls buses around killing 1700-8000 citizens a year many for nonviolent crimes and its just par for the course?
Let’s also not forget about what they have done in Tibet.

Why art today, isnt.

LONDON (Reuters) - One of Britain’s most prestigious art galleries put a block of slate on display, topped by a small piece of wood, in the mistaken belief it was a work of art.

The Royal Academy included the chunk of stone and the small bone-shaped wooden stick in its summer exhibition in London.

But the slate was actually a plinth — a slab on which a pedestal is placed — and the stick was designed to prop up a sculpture. The sculpture itself — of a human head — was nowhere to be seen. [continue.]

Proves my point that art today often is not art.
