Over on the right hand side of the webpage down a little is a shout box. Anyone can leave a comment on whatever they want. One of those cool blog things.
It uses Ajax which makes it even cooler. So it updates in almost real time. No need to refresh the page. The plugin is written by Andrew over at Jalenack.

The Beginning of the Universe

Monument represents heaven and earth

In Northern Iraq there is a place called Lalish where the Yezidis say the universe was born. I drove south from Dohok on snowy roads through an empty land, seemingly to the ends of the earth, and found it nestled among cold hills.

I went there because the President of Dohok University told me to go. “I am a Muslim”, he said. “But I love the Yezidis. Theirs is the original religion of the Kurds. Only through the Yezidis can I speak to God in my own language.” [.continue.]

Wow, a very interesting article. I have never heard of the Yezidi before this.

“72 times Muslims tried to conquer us,”

Impressive that the religion itself hasn’t been lost to Muslim influence.

“All people in the world should be brothers,” he said. “You are always welcome here for the rest of your life.”

I just wish more people in Iraq and actually around the world was more like this. And to think this place exists in Iraq, with all the conflict that continues in the region. One moment of perfect beauty, indeed.

Spam Spam everywhere

There is good spam like the above and bad spam which is basically everything else. Let me take a moment to talk about the good spam. Spam, the kind you eat, always gets a bad rap, but I tell you it can be quite tasty. Slice it, fry it, and make a sandwich with a little mustard, that’s good eatin.

But the bad spam, everyone gets that thru email. It is quite annoying. Spam is the reason I don’t use my email address from my ISP. The amount that comes thru is just nuts. Even before I ever used it! And now spam has come to MySpace. I have gotten three of these thru MySpace.

My best girlfriend asked me to message you, weirddd i know but cool
yea this girl who has been my best friend since ive been young hits me up.
She says she sees this profile of someone that reminds her of her first crush. I dunno Im not the one who should be filling you in Ill let her.

I will let you know that she is cool as hell and gets pretty crazy at times in a fun way. to be honest i used to have a crush on her myself but its too weird now. she said she was shy or something to be the first one to initiate talk but she even posted a blog about ya or something.

Funny though since the account that sent me the spam had no friends. Oh so sorry. I’m not sure what they are selling but whatever it is I’m not interested.

I have also received what I considered spam from Mr. Soul

Hey Mike,
Another Mike here. New guy too. Just need to add some guys to my list, so the ladies don’t realize I’m only here trolling for them. Can you help a brother out?

Ok that’s a little creepy, lets look at his only pict on myspace.

So is Mr. Soul the guy on the right, the left or the leg in the middle?
Don’t know, but he isn’t a friend of mine. 51 friends in 9 days, thats pretty good. So ladies, if you come across Mr. Soul, like he said he is only trolling.

Dirty Harry

Yahoo! is banning the use of allah in email names - even if the letters are included within another name.
This was uncovered by Reg reader Ed Callahan whose mother Linda Callahan was trying to sign up for a Verizon email address. She could not get it to accept her surname. [.continue.]

So what would Harry think about this?
Yahoo!, feeling lucky punk, well do you?
This site has a little more info including other banned words.

Holocaust denier Irving is jailed

British historian David Irving has been found guilty in Vienna of denying the Holocaust of European Jewry and sentenced to three years in prison.
He had pleaded guilty to the charge, based on a speech and interview he gave in Austria in 1989.
“I made a mistake when I said there were no gas chambers at Auschwitz,” he told the court in the Austrian capital. [.continue.]

He was detained back in November, I wrote about it here.

Wow, 3 years in jail for thinking an event that happened 60 years ago did not happen.
He did write about it, but still 3 years in prison?
That’s just crazy talk, kind of like Irving’s views on the holocaust.
Remind me not to go to Europe, so I don’t get jail time for anything I write on this blog.

Trailer Park Boys - Ricky’s Stash

Trailer Park Boys has got to be one the funniest shows I have ever seen. TPB is a Canadian show that was carried on BBCA. They have only showed the first several seasons here in the US, but thru the wonders of Netflix I was able to see season 3 and soon season 4.
Trailer Park Boys: Baked on a True Story is a full blown motion picture being released this summer. I can only hope it opens nationwide in the US.

Anyway, some one came up with a cute little Flash game based off of TPB.
Ricky’s Stash, help Ricky get his stash.
I tried hosting the game locally on the website, but for some reason it just wouldn’t work. So like everyone else I am hot linking to the author’s site.
I would be more than happy to host it, if I could get it to work from HoM.
So check out Ricky’s Stash.

Talk about just pulling crap out of the air.
Take the test, you will see.

The Keys to Your Heart

You are attracted to obedience and warmth.

In love, you feel the most alive when everything is uncertain, one moment heaven… the next moment hell.

You’d like to your lover to think you are stylish and alluring.

You would be forced to break up with someone who was ruthless, cold-blooded, and sarcastic.

Your ideal relationship is lasting. You want a relationship that looks to the future… one you can grow with.

Your risk of cheating is zero. You care about society and morality. You would never break a commitment.

You think of marriage as something precious. You’ll treasure marriage and treat it as sacred.

In this moment, you think of love as something you can get or discard anytime. You’re feeling self centered.

You scored as SG-1 (Stargate). You are versatile and diverse in your thinking. You have an open mind to that which seems highly unlikely and accept it with a bit of humor. Now if only aliens would stop trying to take over your body.

The Olympics

Go Sweden!
oops, I mean go USA!

So the Winter Olympics are in action. The one time every four years I get to see curling and actually watch a little skiing and figure skating. Very little and that’s about it. The Olympics just don’t do it for me like it use to. Back in the 80’s when it was us vs. them, Capitalist vs. Communist it was fun to watch and to cheer for the home team. Nowadays it s meh. Olympics are every 2 years now with the winter and summer alternating, seems like they are always on.
