The rampant complaining about gas prices is enough to put an army of Eeyores to shame. At last, however, it seems that Americans are starting to put their money where their mouth is. Some are forsaking everything you ever thought was cool for a scooter that gets 80 mpg. Others have established organizations offering incentives to car poolers or encouraging employer rewards for conscientious commuters. Mass transit systems are expanding. Hybrid vehicles are becoming more and more popular, with most manufacturers planning to significantly increase the number of available hybrid models in the near future, a figure that has already tripled since 2003. Various levels of government are beginning to offer incentives for hybrid ownership, a trend that will likely accelerate as alternative fuel and hybrid research continues to develop. [.continue.]

    The key really, is knowing what you really need and want in a vehicle. The simplest way to combat the rising oil and gas prices is taking proper care of whatever vehicle you have right now. Which means doing the regular tune ups, checking constantly for damaged or worn auto parts, and replacing auto parts that need replacing before it gets worse (and more expensive). But do you really How Hybrids Work?
